DUKEThis is Duke.
Duke is a survivor. He was found up against US 412 highway in Rose, Oklahoma on Christmas Eve 2022. Our area happened to have the most severe arctic cold blast at that time, with record breaking low temperatures not seen in hundreds of years. Duke somehow survived that exposure. After Christmas, his finders contacted the Circle L Rescue team for help. Duke wouldn't eat, they knew he was too underweight, and they weren't able to keep him long term. We picked him up and realized the seriousness of his condition. Upon examination by our vet, our worst fears were confirmed - Duke was quite a sick boy. In addition to suffering a flea infestation, being heartworm positive, and horrifically underweight at only 41 pounds - Duke is also battling Ehrlichia . This is one of the sweetest, most loving and affectionate German Shepherds we have ever met - despite the anguish of his daily life. Duke has extensive treatments necessary, before he could be considered for adoption. With treatments such as these, there is always a risk Duke won't be strong enough to survive. Estimates of his treatment costs are included in the pictures below. Please consider donating to Duke's medical care. |
